We are pleased to announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has officially granted APTA Therapeutics a US patent 12,630,828 within a pivotal patent family covering the design and medical use of all functional aptamer compounds targeting autoantibodies as well as the use of a novel algorithm to identify elements of structural commonality. Further patents have already been granted and will be granted in the future to generate broad patent protection for this key invention, in the US and worldwide.
“This grant helps secure our proprietary platform and reinforces our position as pioneers in the treatment of severe autoimmune diseases using aptamer-based therapies,” commented Dr. Daniel Bock, Chief Scientific and Operational Officer of APTA. “It strengthens our ability to advance our pipeline and expand into additional indications with high unmet medical need,” he added.
The company’s lead aptamer therapeutic, rovunaptabin, is planned to advance into further Phase 2 clinical trials in post-viral infectious diseases and heart failure.
